. . . bio

Welcome to boyreporter.com, the Web site of Mark Wallace, a journalist and editor residing in Brooklyn, New York.

As a freelance writer, my features, profiles and shorter work has appeared in the The New Yorker, The New York Times Magazine, Details, Harper's, GQ, The Times (London), the Financial Times lifestyle section, and The Philadelphia Independent, among many other publications.

I became a journalist by accident in 1993, after dropping out of college for the fifth and last time. In my first job, covering the World Bank and International Monetary Fund, I was lucky enough to travel to two dozen countries on five continents. Though most of my assignments these days are feature pieces, I continue to cover business and economics, especially in developing countries and the Arab Gulf. Recent magazine work has covered cars, money and young millionaires. I've interviewed edgy Arab royals, the presidents of fictional countries, and many other interesting characters. I have also written a regular column on the Federal Reserve Bank and have covered US equity markets for the Reuters news service.

A more or less recent iteration of my CV can be found here. Email me at wallace at boyreporter dot com if you'd like to get in touch.
